KATHLEEN THOMPSON

Kathleen Thompson
This 2009-2010 school year is my forty-fourth year of teaching, forty of them here at St. Nicholas School. I am as passionate about my teaching ministry today as I was years ago. In these years, I have taught all grades from first to eighth with the majority of my experience in the primary grades.

I received my B.S. in Education from YSU and my Masters as well, with a concentration on curriculum. I have completed additional course work at Kent State, Walsh University, and the University of Dayton. I try to attend at least one workshop or class yearly to keep current with new techniques and methods.

I am a member of St. Nicholas Parish and also of St. John's in Campbell. I lector and am a Eucharistic Minister. I have taught CCD and Youth Ministry and have served on Parish Council. Currently, I am a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Infant Jesus of Prague Society.

While teaching at St. Nicholas I have served on the Diocesan Curriculum Committee and the Diocesan Mentor Program. I have served as Faculty Advisor to several YSU Student Teachers. I have also been the chairperson of our most recent Accreditation Committee.

I am most proud of being invited to become a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization to honor women who have given evidence of potential for distinctive service in education. I am an active member of the Delta Chapter of this international organization.
