JOANNE FOSSESCO

Joanne Fossesco
Every child has the potential to learn ... teachers are the motivators! This has been my belief over my long-term teaching career.

I graduated form Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and earned a Masters Degree in Religious Education through the Diocese of Youngstown. Since then I have completed graduate work through Kent State, Walsh University and YSU. Most of my teaching experience has been in second and third grades. I have taught at St. Patrick and Immaculate Conception Youngstown and have been teaching at St. Nicholas since 1980.
In my classroom I strive to create a dynamic Catholic Christian-centered learning environment which includes: Active Learning, Mutual Respect, Shared Knowledge, Pursuit of Individual Skills, and Team Commitment.

I also try to empower all students to achieve the educational goals that enable them to direct their lives and contribute to society in a positive way. In addition, I believe that each child should strive to work toward his/her personal best! Children learn best when they are self-motivated, actively engaged learners. "Tell me ... I forget. Show me ... I remember. Involve me .... I understand."
